This tutorial from The Potomac Bead Company teaches how to work with wire by recapping our 'Intro to Wire' class. A wire of any kind (silver, gold, copper, Artistic Wire, German wire etc.) can be used in many many different ways to create incredible pieces of jewelry. This 3 part video will give you the introductory skills upon which many later classes will be based, including eye pins, coiling, coiled eye pins, figure 8, s hooks, and links.

Materials Used To make The  Project

Quick Project Steps

Preparing the Wire: Cut a 4-inch section of 18 gauge wire for figure eights and S-hooks.
Making Figure Eights: Use round nose pliers to create a loop by turning the wire. Make a second loop opposite the first to form a figure eight shape.
Creating S-Hook Closures: Bend the wire around a Sharpie pen or mandrel to form a loop, then bend the wire in the opposite direction to complete the S-hook.
Finishing Touches: Smooth out the ends of the wire with flat nose pliers to prevent snagging and optionally hammer the wire for added strength.
