The Sovereign Crest Pendant tutorial guides viewers through creating an elegant bezel pendant inspired by a monthly treasure box. The design features an 18mm ravoli at its center, surrounded by a Hubble Stitch bezel, and accented with 4mm crystal rounds. The project teaches an alternative way to start Hubble Stitch by first creating a beaded loop, then building the stitch on top of it. It progresses from creating the bezel to securely encasing the ravoli and then adding decorative elements. Finally, the tutorial demonstrates how to create a ladder stitch bail to complete the pendant.

    Quick Project Steps

Gather Materials: Collect all necessary supplies: an 18mm ravoli, 4mm crystal rounds, 8/0 seed beads, 11/0 seed beads, size eight dragon thread, and a size 11 needle. Create the Foundation Loop: Begin by stringing a total of eight or eleven pairs of 8/0 and 11/0 seed beads to form a rounded loop. Tie a knot to hold its shape, then exit your needle from an 8/0 seed bead. Build the Hubble Stitch: Add two 8/0 seed beads, then sew back into the same 8/0 bead your thread is exiting. Continue this process, adding a fourth bead to each unit to complete the first row of the Hubble Stitch bezel. Start the Bezel Curve: Once the first row is complete, begin the second row using 11/0 seed beads. Use an 8/0 seed bead as a spacer between the Hubble Stitch units to help the bezel start curving inward. Secure the Ravoli: Go around the top of the bezel, adding two 11/0 seed beads at a time and sewing into the next top point. Pulling the thread tight will fold the bezel back and secure the ravoli inside. Reinforce this row by sewing through it a second time. Add the Outer Crystals: Come out from the back row of 8/0 seed beads and add a pattern of an 11/0 seed bead, a 4mm crystal, and another 11/0 seed bead. Repeat this around the entire piece. Connect the Crystals: Weave up to the crystal and add a pattern of an 11/0, an 8/0, and another 11/0 seed bead, sewing into the next crystal. This connects the crystals and provides a decorative element. Create the Bail: Move your thread to a different 8/0-11/0 combination on the piece. Use a ladder stitch to build a bail to your desired size by adding four 11/0 seed beads at a time and sewing back through the previous set. Attach the Bail: Once you have your desired number of rows (e.g., eight rows), fold the bail over and sew it to the base of the pendant using the existing beads to connect the two ends. Finish the Thread: Weave the thread back into the beadwork, tying a few knots under "bridge threads". Cut the excess thread and carefully use a thread burner to melt the tail for a clean finish.
