Clematis Flower Necklace Tutorial

The Clematis Flower Necklace tutorial is a beautifully detailed project combining structure, sparkle, and floral elegance. The design centers on bezeling a 16–18mm rivoli crystal with a starburst of DiscDuo beads, bugles, and seed beads, forming a dimensional flower-like pendant. Using a blend of right-angle weave, layered embellishments, and bugle bead laddering, this project offers intermediate to advanced beaders a dynamic and rewarding build. The tutorial also demonstrates how to turn the pendant into a full necklace using a ladder-stitched rope of seed beads and bugles, with a flexible bail that allows the pendant to be removable.

    Quick Project Steps

Make the Bezel Base: String: Bugle – 3 × 11/0 – Bugle – 3 × 11/0, repeat 5 times. Tie into a circle (forms a 5-point pentagon). Reinforce and leave a short tail. Add Triangle Prongs: From the 11/0s between bugles, add 3 × 11/0s. Skip bead 2, go through bead 3 + next bugle + next 11/0. Repeat to form five triangular prongs. Add DiscDuo Beads: From center prong bead: add 1 × 11/0 – 1 × DiscDuo – 2 × 11/0, circle back through original 11/0. Continue around, alternating DiscDuos and 11/0s. Add 5 DiscDuos between prongs, plus 5 more between them = 10 total. Build Internal Ring for Rivoli: Add 3 × 11/0s between 11/0s below each DiscDuo. Pass through to form small triangles facing inward. Insert rivoli face-up before final tightening. Add Bugles to Secure Crystal: From the center of each prong, stitch 1 bugle → next prong center. Form a 5-point star surrounding the rivoli. Pull tight to secure and reinforce once more. Create Pico Trim: Exit DiscDuo second hole. Add 3 × 11/0s, skip the center bead, go through 3rd and next DiscDuo. Repeat around to make small peaks. Ladder Stitch Bail with Bugles: Exit top DiscDuo. Add: 2 × 11/0 – 1 bugle – 2 × 11/0, back through DiscDuo. Ladder stitch 12 bugles, creating a loop. Bring bail around the back, connect with 2 × 11/0 → through DiscDuo → 2 × 11/0 → bugle. Reinforce the loop several times. Make the Necklace Rope Create Seed Bead & Bugle Pattern: String: 20 × 11/0 → 1 bugle, repeat to desired length. Use ladder stitch method: Go back through the previous bugle in the opposite direction. Continue building alternating segments of seed beads and bugles. Attach Clasp: Add a wire guard at the end. Go through the wire guard → clasp (lobster or ring) → back down the other side. Reinforce by stitching around again and tying off thread ends securely.
