Eva Star Pendant Tutorial

This tutorial walks viewers through creating the Eva Star Pendant, a radiant, star-shaped design built around an EVA bead and layered with seed beads and sparkling accents. The process begins by forming a stable base structure, then gradually expanding outward to create pointed, symmetrical star arms. Careful bead placement and consistent tension are emphasized to maintain the crisp geometry and dimensional shape of the pendant. The tutorial also covers how to reinforce key connection points, attach a secure bail, and finish the pendant cleanly. By the end, beaders gain a versatile technique for creating star-inspired designs that can be customized through color and bead variations.

    Quick Project Steps

Prep thread & base beads: Thread your needle and string 6 GemDuos, alternating each with a 2mm crystal. Tie into a circle and pass through all beads again to secure. Reinforce the foundation: Sew around the entire ring once more to stabilize the base and ensure all beads sit evenly. Start first seed bead row: Add a sequence of 15/0, 11/0, and 15/0 seed beads, sewing from one GemDuo hole to the opposite hole of the next. Alternate direction as you go around. Complete the inner pattern: Continue adding the same bead groupings around the circle, forming small arches between each GemDuo. Add surrounding seed beads: Fill in around each GemDuo by adding 15/0 seed beads and sharing existing 11/0 beads to create a more complete inner structure. Build dimension with 8/0 beads: Add one 8/0 seed bead between each grouping of 15/0 beads to expand the design and create a raised, rounded shape. Attach Eva beads: Pick up an Eva bead, add 7× 11/0 seed beads, and pass back through the Eva bead and into the next GemDuo to begin forming the outer star points. Connect Eva beads with crystals: Between each Eva bead, add a connector of 11/0 seed bead + crystal rondelles + 11/0, linking adjacent Eva beads together. Repeat outer pattern: Continue adding Eva beads, seed bead arches, and crystal connectors all the way around to complete the star shape. Create the bail loop: Exit through the top seed bead group and add multiple 15/0 seed beads to form a loop. Reinforce by creating a second strand and stitching them together. Reinforce the structure: Weave thread through the outer and inner beadwork (avoiding delicate 15/0s when possible) to tighten and stabilize the pendant. Add center pearl: From the back, sew a 6mm pearl across opposite GemDuos, passing through it multiple times to secure. Final reinforcement & finish: Make final passes through key beads, tie off thread, and trim ends. Optionally attach to a chain or cord to complete the necklace.
