Winter Aurora Pendant Tutorial

The tutorial begins from the back of the pendant, constructing a circular bezel using SuperDuos and 11/0 seed beads. The instructor demonstrates how to build a stable ring foundation, step up correctly between SuperDuo holes, and add a second structured row before incorporating crystals. Careful tightening ensures the base is even and symmetrical before the focal stone is added. The final step adds a crystal accent at the top and forms a reinforced looped bail for cord attachment. The project concludes with thread management and secure finishing techniques.

    Quick Project Steps

Prep materials & thread: Thread your needle with about 5 feet of size 6 Dragon Thread. Add beads in the starting sequence (1 SuperDuo + 2 size 11/0 seed beads) repeated 10 times, finishing with seed beads, and tie into a tight loop. Step up to the second hole: Sew through the first SuperDuo and step up into its second hole to prepare for building the next round. Add second SuperDuo row: Pick up 1 SuperDuo and 1 size 11/0 seed bead, then sew into the next SuperDuo’s second hole. Repeat around to add 10 SuperDuos total. Insert crystal rondelles: Add 2 size 11/0 seed beads, 1 crystal rondelle, and 2 more 11/0s. Skip the 11/0–SuperDuo–11/0 set and sew into the next SuperDuo’s second hole. Repeat all the way around. Drop in the 18mm Rivoli: Place the Rivoli inside the bezel base. Begin forming the front bezel by adding 2 size 11/0 seed beads between each crystal around the circle. Tighten & reinforce the bezel: Sew through all front beads again, pulling tension toward the center. Make 2–3 reinforcement passes to securely lock the Rivoli in place. Add outer crystal–SuperDuo layer: Step up to the outer SuperDuo holes. Add 1 crystal, 1 SuperDuo, and 1 crystal between each section. Repeat 10 times around. Create butterfly arches: Add 4 size 11/0 seed beads, sew into the recessed SuperDuo below, then back up through bead 3. Add 3 seed beads and sew into the next top SuperDuo. Repeat around to form arched “butterfly” loops. Add top crystal accent: Pick up 1 size 11/0, 1 crystal, and 1 size 11/0. Sew into the opposite SuperDuo to create the top connection point. Make & reinforce the bail: Create a loop of 11 seed beads through the top crystal, repeat on the opposite side, and reinforce the loops. Weave thread back through the beadwork, tie off securely, trim or burn ends, and finish.
