Holiday Glitter Earrings Tutorial

The Holiday Glitter Earrings tutorial teaches how to create layered, sparkling earrings using a repeating SuperDuo + Delica structure that gradually expands into a festive star-floral shape. The Tutorial demonstrates how to start with a compact SuperDuo ring, build outward with Delica arches, form pointed star tips, add stacked SuperDuo rounds, and create a decorative bottom drop all before attaching a wire guard and ear wire for wearable finish.

    Quick Project Steps

Thread & form first ring: Thread needle and string Delica → SuperDuo → Delica → SuperDuo → Delica (5 beads total, start/end with a Delica). Slide to the tail and tie into a tight knot to form the small circular core. Push beads & identify last bead: Push beads out so SuperDuo holes line up correctly. Note where the last SuperDuo sits — you’ll use its holes to step up. Step up into the next position: Sew through the next Delica + SuperDuo and step up from the bottom hole to the top hole of that SuperDuo so you’re positioned to build the outer round. Add 3-Delica arches around each SuperDuo: Repeat around: pick up 3 Delicas, sew into the top hole of the next SuperDuo. Continue until the full circle has 3-Delica arches between each SuperDuo. Pass back through the first group to close the round. Make 3-Delica star points: Exit the first Delica of a 3-bead arch, pick up 3 Delicas, skip the middle bead of the arch, and sew into bead #3 then through the adjacent SuperDuo. Repeat to form pointed star tips all around. Build the second, stacked layer: Step up as shown in the video and add the next layer: place Delicas and SuperDuos to form the wider stacked round (the tutorial adds 5 new SuperDuos around the ring, with Delicas before/after to anchor). Reinforce the new SuperDuo circle with a pass or two. Repeat arches & star points on second layer: On the new SuperDuo round, add 3-Delica arches and then the 3-Delica star points again to mirror the top section — this creates the fuller star/floral silhouette. Create the bottom drop section: Move down the center line to the bottom SuperDuo. From its lower hole, form a small 5-Delica loop (one through five) that sits under the SuperDuo. Work the connection around so the drop shapes outward, then stitch two Delicas + SuperDuo + Delica into the next section to continue the drop pattern (repeat as in the video for desired length/shape). Do side embellishments & final shaping: Work any side filler rows (Delica → Delica → SuperDuo → Delica → Delica patterns) and reinforce the star tips so points stay crisp. Trim any small gaps by tacking 1–11/0 where needed. Add the wire guard: Come up through the top SuperDuo area, add 2 Delicas → wire guard → 2 Delicas, then pass back through the wire guard and surrounding Delicas. Make 2 passes through the guard for strength. Be careful to pass only through the SuperDuo top hole where instructed (so you don’t twist the beadwork). Weave to starter, tie off & finish: Weave your working thread back toward the starter knot, tie it onto the starter thread area (or tuck and make small weaver’s knots), bury thread tails through several beads, trim close, then zap/melt or secure with a tiny dab of glue if desired. Attach ear wire: Open ear wire sideways, slide on the wire guard, close ear wire. Repeat whole process for the mate, matching bead counts and tension.
