Learn to use Stretch Cord

Stretch bracelets are one of the easiest and quickest jewelry projects, making them perfect for beginners and experienced crafters alike. Supplies for a Stretch Bracelet

The first step in starting a new jewelry project is to gather your supplies! For a basic Stretch bracelet you will  need a selection of beds, Elastic or stretch cord, a bead stopper, Scissors, and Adhesive.

Instructions for a Simple Stretch Bracelet

Step 1: Cut Stretchy String to Desired Length

Using a pair of scissors, cut the stretchy string to the desired length.  Be sure to leave about two to three inches extra so you have enough cord to tie a knot at the end.

Step 2: Add Bead Stopper and Beads

Add a bead stopper to one end of the piece of stretchy string.  You can now beginning adding beads in whichever pattern you choose.  Check the length around your wrist a few times and add more or remove beads as needed.

Step 3: Tie Overhand Knot to Finish

Once you have finished adding your beads, its time to complete the project with an overhand knot.  Please refer to the infographic below for overhand knot instructions.  Once you have made the knot, secure it by adding a dab of super glue to keep the knot from unraveling.  After the glue dries, trim off the tails of the cord.
