Turquoise Chain Gang Necklace Tutorial

The Turquoise Chain Gang Necklace tutorial teaches how to create a stylish geometric necklace using a repeating right-angle weave (RAW) pattern with bugle beads, crystals, 8/0 seed beads, and 11/0 seed beads. The tutorial also demonstrates how to add new thread using secure surgeon's and square knots without disrupting the beadwork, weave back through the RAW units to hide knots, and reinforce the structure for long-lasting durability. Finally, the thread is secured with bridge-thread knots and trimmed cleanly, resulting in a lightweight, elegant necklace that can also be adapted into bracelets or wraparound designs with endless possibilities for customizing colors, bead combinations, and embellishments.

    Quick Project Steps

Start the First RAW Unit Add a stop bead, then string the bugle beads, crystals, 8/0 seed beads, and 11/0 seed beads to create the first right-angle weave (RAW) unit. Build the Necklace Base Continue adding new RAW units, sharing beads with the previous section to create a flexible chain. Repeat the Pattern Follow the same bead sequence, alternating bugle beads and crystals while maintaining even thread tension. Continue to the Desired Length Repeat the RAW pattern until the necklace reaches your preferred length. Add New Thread if Needed Join a new thread using a surgeon's knot and square knot, then weave through the beadwork to hide and secure the knot before continuing. Attach the First Wire Guard Add a wire guard and jump ring (or soldered ring), then reinforce the connection with multiple thread passes. Secure the Thread Weave back through several RAW units, tie knots around bridge threads, and trim or burn the thread end. Attach the Second Clasp End Repeat the process on the opposite end, attaching a wire guard and lobster clasp. Reinforce the Clasp Connection Pass through the wire guard and clasp multiple times to strengthen the attachment and protect the thread from wear. Finish the Necklace Secure the final thread with knots hidden inside the beadwork, trim the excess thread, and enjoy your finished necklace or customize the design as a bracelet or wraparound piece.
