After Dark Leaf Necklace Tutorial

The After Dark Leaf Necklace is created using seven-strand beading cable, 4mm round beads, 3mm Isuki spacer beads, and gilded leaf charms to form an elegant, flowing lariat design. The necklace begins with a beaded strand connected to a lobster clasp and center link, followed by multiple strands of varying lengths that are randomly embellished with beads and finished with dangling leaves. The opposite side is constructed in the same way, with the wires secured using crimp tubes to complete the necklace. The design can be customized by adding extra leaves with jump rings, changing the length, creating additional dangles, or using the leaf components for earrings.

    Quick Project Steps

Prepare the cable: Cut seven-strand beading cable and attach a crimp tube and optional crimp cover. Create the first strand: String 4mm round beads and 3mm Isuki spacer beads in an organic, irregular pattern. Add the clasp: Attach the lobster clasp and jump ring, then connect the strand through the center link. Create the split strands: Feed a longer piece of cable through the center connection and bring both ends back through one bead to create two equal strands. Build the dangles: Separate the wires and string each side with a random mix of 4mm rounds and spacer beads. Vary the lengths: Make each strand slightly different in length so the finished leaves hang at different levels. Attach the leaves: Add a bead, gilded leaf, and crimp tube to each strand, then feed the cable back through the final bead and crimp. Repeat on the opposite side tart another pair of strands from the opposite ring and repeat the same beading pattern. Secure the necklace: Bring the two wires together, pass them through the final crimp tube and clasp connection, pull them evenly, flatten the crimp, and trim the excess cable. Customize the design: Add extra leaves with jump rings, create additional dangles, make the necklace longer, or use the leaf components for earrings.
