    Quick Project Steps

Cut cord: Cut one length ≈ 18–24" (45–60 cm). This gives plenty for beads + adjustable knot. Trim one end to a point or melt slightly so it threads easily. Make a needle end (optional): Carefully melt the tip of the cord with a lighter and press slightly to form a tapered end—this helps feed through bead holes without a needle. Center the beads: Thread your chosen beads onto the cord and slide them to the center. Aim for 6–12 beads depending on bead size and wrist circumference. Set working length: Pull beads to the center and leave ~3–4" (7–10 cm) cord on each side for knotting and the slip-knot section. Adjust so beads sit where you want them on the wrist. Add an auxiliary cord for the slider: Cut an additional ≈ 8–10" (20–25 cm) piece of cord. Lay it perpendicular under the bracelet cords where you want the slider to sit. Make the macramé sliding knot (half-hitches): Wrap the auxiliary cord around the two main cords and tie alternating half-hitch knots (Snoopy-nose technique) tightly across ~½–1" (1–2 cm). Repeat the same number of knots on the other side or just continue the wrap for a neat tube — typically 6–10 half-hitches makes a secure slider. Secure the slider: Tighten the knots evenly so the slider grips and can still move when pulled. Trim auxiliary cord tails short, melt and flatten the ends with pliers to prevent fraying. Finish bead-side tails: On each side of the beads, tie a small overhand or double knot to keep beads from sliding into the slider. Optionally add a tiny glue dab into the knot for extra hold. Seal tail ends: Trim excess cord tails close (leave 2–3 mm), melt carefully and press flat with pliers. This creates a neat, bead-like cap and prevents fray. Adjust & wear: Pull the slider to tighten or loosen the bracelet. Trim any remaining small tails or tuck them under nearby knots. Try on and tweak knot tension if needed.
