Beaded Cage Tutorial

Beaded Cage Tutorial
The Designer’s suggested colors and materials:
  • Irregularly shaped gemstone (e.g., quartz, labradorite, amber)
  • Seed beads (11/0, 15/0 for variations)
  • Czech bugle beads (12mm and 7mm in bronze pale gold)
  • Wildfire beading thread (0.006, light green)
  • Size 12 beading needle
  • Greek leather cord (1.5mm, brown)
  • Tools: bead mat, thread zap or cord cutter, flat nose pliers

    Quick Project Steps

    Prepare Materials: Gather your chosen gemstone, seed beads, bugle beads, beading thread, needle, and leather cord.
    Start Beading: Attach a stop bead to your thread and begin laying out your beads to form the base of the cage.
    Middle Section: Use the right angle weave technique with your chosen beads to create the middle section of the cage.
    Secure the Gemstone: Carefully place your gemstone within the partially formed cage and continue beading to encapsulate it fully.
    Closing the Cage: Finish the beading pattern to completely secure the gemstone within the cage.
    Add the Leather Cord: Attach a leather cord through the top of the cage, securing with knots for a natural, earthy look.
