The Iris Mandala Bracelet tutorial demonstrates how to create intricate circular bead components that resemble small mandalas. The design begins with a ring of MiniDuos and seed beads, which forms the structural center of the motif. Iris Duos are then added between the MiniDuos to expand the circular shape, creating a layered bead pattern that becomes the foundation of the bracelet. The tutorial highlights how bead orientation, proper step-ups, and controlled thread tension work together to maintain the symmetry of the mandala component. Multiple components are created and then connected using Iris Duo beads to form the full bracelet, finishing with wire guards, jump rings, and a clasp for a secure and polished result.

    Quick Project Steps

Prepare thread & base beads: Cut about 2 feet of thread and string 6 MiniDuos with a 15/0 seed bead between each. Pass through the beads again to form a circle and tie the thread to secure the base. Step up through the MiniDuo: Sew through one MiniDuo and move up through the second hole so your thread exits from the top hole, preparing for the next row. Add Iris Duos between MiniDuos: Pick up one Iris Duo and sew through the top hole of the next MiniDuo. Continue around the circle, adding an Iris Duo between each MiniDuo to expand the mandala. Begin the cube bead row: Pick up a 15/0 seed bead, a cube bead, and another 15/0 seed bead. Sew through the bottom hole of the next Iris Duo and repeat around the component. Step up to the outer hole: After completing the round, move your thread to the top hole of the Iris Duo to start the next decorative row. Frame the cube beads: Pick up two 15/0 seed beads, sew through the cube bead, pick up two more 15/0 seed beads, and pass through the top hole of the next Iris Duo. Repeat all the way around. Finish the mandala component: Complete the round and tighten the thread so the cube beads and seed beads sit neatly in the design, forming the finished mandala shape. Attach the wire guard end: Sew through the beads along the edge of the component, add an Iris Duo and a wire guard, then pass up and down through the wire guard to secure it. Create additional components: Repeat the process to make multiple mandala units, leaving thread tails available to help connect them later. Connect the components: Join components using an Iris Duo between them, sewing through the seed beads and cube bead path to reinforce the connection. Add clasp and finish: Attach jump rings and your chosen clasp to the wire guards, weave in thread tails, and trim or burn the ends for a clean finish.
