    Quick Project Steps

Prep thread & layout: Cut ~4–5 ft thread for the first beaded bead (you’ll make several). Organize rondelles and 11/0s in your working order. Start ladder base: String a short ladder base: 11/0 → rondelle → 11/0 → rondelle → 11/0 (example 4–6 rondelles per tube depending on desired length). Fold the ladder and sew back through the first row to sit beads in place. Convert ladder to RAW (first RAW row): Add the first RAW units by picking up beads and stepping down through the ladder rungs so the tube begins to form: typically 11/0 → rondelle → 11/0 per unit, forming square RAW units around the tube. Build up the tube: Continue RAW rows around the cylinder, repeating until the tube reaches the height you want for a beaded bead. Keep tension even so the tube rounds up (not collapsing flat). Join ends to close the tube: Bring the two raw edges together, use ladder-connection beads (11/0s) and sew through matching beads like a zipper to close the tube into a 3D beaded bead. Pull snug and check roundness. Reinforce & shape: Sew several reinforcement passes through the major seams and around the tube (through rondelles and 11/0s) to firm the bead. Add extra seed beads between ribs if the shape needs stiffening. Make pendant / stacked “totem” section (optional): For the pendant, stack 2–4 beaded beads (or alternate rondelle/seed bead spacers) on center thread; secure between them with a small spacer bead or by weaving a few connecting seed beads to hold spacing. Create enough beaded beads: Repeat steps 2–6 to make the number of beaded beads you want for the necklace (example: 6–9 beaded beads for a statement strand). String the necklace: String beaded beads, rondelles, accent beads, and spacers on beading wire in the layout you like. Use crimp tubes to secure the ends and attach your clasp. If using thread, finish with secure knots and glue or bead tips. Final reinforcement & finish: If any beaded bead feels loose on the wire, add a seed bead spacer or stitch a small stabilizing loop through its center. Trim and finish ends, press crimps, and polish the necklace.
