My Girlfriends LeafDuo Bracelet & Earrings Tutorial

Create “My Girlfriend’s” LeafDuo Bracelet & matching Earrings a two-needle, rhythmic beading project that pairs LeafDuos and DiscDuos with 8/0 and 11/0 seed beads to make a gently draped, semi-parallel bracelet with a lacy leafy motion. You'll learn how to set a centered wire-guard start, build mirrored “railroad-track” beadwork, orient LeafDuos in paired opposite directions for flow, add decorative 11/0 edging, secure a bead-loop (or wire-guard) clasp, and quickly make coordinating earrings. The video balances straightforward repetition with a handful of tight thread-path tricks so the finished set looks polished and wearable great for swapping colors, bead finishes, or scale.

    Quick Project Steps

Prep & start: Find thread midpoint, put a needle on each end. Slide on a wire guard and 1–2 × 8/0 on each side to center your work. Leave a short tail or use a stop bead if you prefer. Make the railroad foundation: With both needles, pick up: 8/0 (each needle) → DiscDuo (both needles, one through each hole) and snug. This creates the parallel “railroad track” that the LeafDuos will sit between. Add the first LeafDuo (pairing): After the DiscDuo, add 8/0 (each needle), then feed each needle through the two holes of a LeafDuo (one needle per hole) so the LeafDuo sits between the tracks. Orient the LeafDuo so it curves outward (you’ll mirror direction on the next LeafDuo). Repeat the unit: Continue: 8/0 → DiscDuo → 8/0 → LeafDuo repeating the pattern down the length. For a bracelet example use ~9 LeafDuos / 10 DiscDuos (adjust for wrist size as you go). Check length & add final guard: When you reach desired length, add extra 8/0s as spacers, then position the second wire guard and pass each needle up/down through it (mirror the start). Reinforce by sewing back through the last few beads and the guard a couple of times. Add 11/0 decorative edging (outside row): Exit an outside 8/0. Pick up 4 × 11/0, pass through the next 8/0 → LeafDuo → 8/0 to form a small outer run. Repeat along the outside edge so 11/0 runs frame the DiscDuo/LeafDuo band. (Video shows groups of four 11/0 per repeat.) Finish edging to the end: Continue the 11/0 run to the second guard. When both sides are trimmed, route threads to a central join point. Cross, tie & bury tails: Cross the two thread ends through an 8/0 or under a bridge thread; make a small secure knot (simple overhand or two half-hitches), then weave tails back through beads to hide them. Trim and zap if using synthetic thread. Make coordinating earrings (quick): Use a short length of thread with a stop bead. Build the same unit sequence but shorter (DiscDuo + LeafDuo + small spacer) or follow the exact mini pattern shown. Add a wire guard at the top, reinforce, tie off, and attach ear wires. Reinforce & final checks: Pass through the clasp area, outer 11/0 runs, and a few LeafDuos again for strength. Check that LeafDuos alternate facing directions and the band sits semi-parallel (not twisted).
