Intro to Bead Embroidery Tutorial

This tutorial from PotomacBeads gives you an introduction to bead embroidery, by bezel setting a cabochon using seed beads and Lacy's Stiff Stuff. When embroidering, you can continue embellishing your pieces to create a variety of rings, bracelets, bangles, necklaces, pendants, or just plain art. Enjoy!

The Designer’s suggested colors and materials:
  • Ultrasuede - Coffee Cream
  • Cabochon, ~1 Piece
  • Miyuki Delica 11/0 - Light Caramel Ceylon
  • Miyuki Delica 11/0 - Matte Opaque Sea Foam Luster
  • Lacy's Stiff Stuff

    Quick Project Steps

    Prepare your materials and trace the cabochon on Lacy's Stiff Stuff.
    Begin the bezel with a peyote stitch using Miyuki Delica 11/0 beads, sewing three beads at a time along the traced line.
    Glue the cabochon to the Lacy's Stiff Stuff.
    Add a second layer of seed beads with the peyote stitch, alternating colors for visual interest.
    Trim the excess Lacy's Stiff Stuff closely around the bezel setting.
    Apply Ultrasuede to the back of the piece, cutting slightly larger than the cabochon outline.
    Embellish the edges with Swarovski crystals (optional) and add a bail for hanging.

    I don't know why you have the drop-down boxes -- I can see them but can't get to them. I had to use search for everything. Why do you list things that are on sale if they are out of stock? Are they still going to be on sale when they are back in stock?
