This tutorial shows how to create the Floral Trellis Necklace by starting with a right angle weave (RAW) base using 8/0 seed beads to form a structured center. It then builds decorative fringe using a mix of seed beads and accent beads like bicones, melon beads, and flower caps, creating a soft, cascading, floral-inspired design while emphasizing proper thread tension and bead alignment. As the piece develops, additional layers of fringe are added to create fullness and dimension, with freedom to customize patterns and colors. The necklace is finished by extending the sides with RAW or simple bead chains, attaching a toggle clasp, and securing the thread with clean finishing techniques for a polished final result.

    Quick Project Steps

Start the Center (RAW Base) Begin with 4 beads and create your first right angle weave (RAW) unit using 8/0 seed beads. Build the Base Length Continue adding RAW units (3 beads at a time) until you reach about 8 inches. Begin the Fringe From the sides of the RAW base, add drops using 8/0, 11/0, accent beads, and finish with a 15/0 to lock each drop. Vary the Drops Gradually increase bead amounts and mix bead types (bicones, melons, flower caps) to create a flowing, organic look. Complete First Layer Continue adding fringe along the entire base, adjusting length and pattern as desired. Add Second Layer (Optional) Go back through the design and add extra fringe branching off existing drops to create more fullness. Extend the Sides Use RAW or simple bead stringing to build the necklace length on both ends. Attach the Clasp Add a toggle clasp using a 4mm bead and reinforce it by looping thread multiple times. Secure the Thread Weave through the beadwork and tie a sewer’s knot to secure everything. Finish the Piece Trim excess thread and adjust fringe for a balanced, polished final look.
