Puffy Cathedral Bracelet Tutorial

The Puffy Cathedral Bracelet tutorial teaches viewers how to create a soft, dimensional bracelet that highlights 6mm cathedral beads using simple stringing and repeated thread passes. The project begins with a foundational pattern of 8/0 seed beads, 11/0 seed beads, 2–3mm bicones, and cathedral beads, strung in a repeating sequence sized to fit the wrist. A toggle clasp is attached directly without a wire guard, and the design intentionally ends with a cathedral bead to allow proper toggle bar movement. The tutorial finishes by reinforcing the toggle, tying off thread ends, and emphasizing versatility the design can easily be adapted into a necklace.

    Quick Project Steps

Prep materials & thread: Cut about 5 feet of thread, thread your needle, and add a stop bead (use an 8/0) to keep your beads from sliding off. String the foundation pattern: Create the repeating base sequence: cathedral bead, 8/0 seed bead, three 11/0 seed beads, 8/0, 2–3mm bicone, 8/0, three 11/0s. Repeat until bracelet length fits your wrist, ending with a cathedral bead. Attach the first side of the toggle: Sew directly through the toggle loop (no wire guard), then go back through the 8/0–cathedral–8/0 section to secure it. Begin the first decorative pass: When exiting an 8/0–cathedral–8/0 section, add three 11/0s, one bicone, and three 11/0s. Connect to the next segment: Skip to the next 8/0–cathedral–8/0 section and sew through it, forming the start of the raised “puff” in the center. Repeat across the bracelet: Continue adding the 3–bicone–3 bead sequence between each cathedral section until you reach the end. Attach the second side of the toggle: Add two 8/0 seed beads for spacing, sew through the toggle bar, then back through those beads and the last cathedral section. Build additional passes for fullness: Repeat the entire decorative pass again (3 beads, bicone, 3 beads between each section). Do about five total passes for a full, puffy look. Reinforce the clasp area: Each time you reach the ends, sew through the toggle loop or bar again to strengthen the connection. Tie off & finish: After your final pass, weave down into the beadwork, tie thread ends together securely, trim excess thread, and smooth the bracelet into shape.
