LIve! How to Make Your Bracelets Fit Right
PotomacBeads Pliers - Round Nose Pliers

Episode Transcript

Introduction

In this episode of Better Beader by Potomac Beads, we explore the art of making bracelets that fit perfectly. A well-fitting bracelet is not only comfortable to wear but also enhances the overall appearance of the piece. Join us as we dive into the techniques and tips shared by the hosts to help you create bracelets that are both stylish and functional.

Materials Needed

  • Beading wire (49 strand, 0.018 inch diameter)
  • Crimp tubes (2mm)
  • Crimp covers (3mm)
  • Lobster clasp
  • Jump rings (6mm)
  • Chain nose pliers
  • Crimping pliers
  • Wire cutters
  • Bead mat
  • Bead stopper
  • Beads of your choice (size 6mm or 8mm)

Step-by-Step Tutorial

  1. Begin by measuring your wrist size using a soft measuring tape or a strip of paper. Add 1 to 1.5 inches to the measurement to determine the total length of your bracelet.
  2. Cut a piece of beading wire about 6 inches longer than your desired bracelet length.
  3. Attach a bead stopper to one end of the wire to prevent the beads from falling off.
  4. String your chosen beads onto the wire, leaving about 2 inches of space on each end for the clasp and crimping.
  5. Once you have added all the beads, remove the bead stopper and slide a crimp tube onto one end of the wire.
  6. Pass the wire through the loop of your clasp, then back through the crimp tube and a few of the beads, creating a loop.
  7. Use crimping pliers to flatten the crimp tube, securing the wire in place. Trim any excess wire with wire cutters.
  8. Slide a crimp cover over the flattened crimp tube and gently squeeze it closed using chain nose pliers for a polished look.
  9. Repeat steps 5-8 on the other end of the bracelet, attaching a jump ring instead of the clasp.
  10. Connect the clasp to the jump ring, and your bracelet is complete!

Customization Ideas & Inspiration

The beauty of making your own bracelets is the ability to customize them to suit your personal style. Consider experimenting with different bead colors, sizes, and textures to create unique designs. You can also mix and match various beads within the same bracelet for an eclectic look.

For a more delicate appearance, try using smaller beads or seed beads. Alternatively, for a bold statement piece, opt for larger beads or even incorporate charms or pendants into your design.

Conclusion

Creating a bracelet that fits perfectly is a rewarding experience that allows you to showcase your individual style. By following the steps outlined in this tutorial and incorporating the tips shared by the Better Beader hosts, you'll be well on your way to crafting beautiful, comfortable bracelets.

I don't like seeing my choices on only half of my screen. Completing the other half of the screen is annoying. When looking for something specific it takes me forever. Have to find what category there in. But I'm in my 70's, if that's why.

I found it confusing with all the "upgrade options. I hope I am getting a complete kits which I do not have to buy crystals or clasps to complete my projects. I am hoping the add one only give me more options for my kits. Potomac beads patterns are really beautiful so fingers crossed I will like the kits subscription.
