  • Project Steps

Basic Earring – Simple Loop Method Slide a Bead onto a Headpin: Place your chosen bead(s) down the headpin so it rests against the flat end. Trim the Headpin: Leave about ¼ inch (6 mm) of wire above the bead and cut the excess. Make a Loop: Grip the trimmed end with round nose pliers. Roll the wire forward to form a small loop. Attach the Ear Wire: Open the loop of the ear wire by bending it sideways (not pulling apart). Slide the loop of your headpin onto the ear wire. Close the ear wire securely. Alternate: Coiled (Wrapped) Loop Slide Bead(s) onto Headpin: Use 1 or more beads. Add a bead cap for extra style if you want. Make a Right-Angle Bend: Just above the bead, bend the wire to a 90° angle using chain nose pliers. Form a Loop: With round nose pliers, grasp just above the bend. Wrap the wire over the top jaw of the pliers to form a loop. Wrap the Coil: Holding the loop with pliers, wrap the remaining wire around the neck of the loop 2–3 times. Trim Excess Wire: Use wire cutters to snip the tail cleanly. Attach to Ear Wire: Open ear wire, slide on your wrapped loop, and close.
