Wire Beaded Drop Earrings Tutorial

This video tutorial from The Potomac Bead Company teaches you how to make wire beaded drops, which can be used as earrings or pendants, using your choice of beads.

Wire Beaded Drop Earrings Tutorial
The Designer’s suggested colors and materials:
  • 20 gauge and 28 gauge wire (Artistic wire in non-tarnished silver)
  • Ear wires
  • Round nose pliers, wire cutters, bent needle nose pliers
  • Bead mat
  • Blue topaz faceted briolettes
  • 3mm glass pearls (corally orange color)

    Quick Project Steps

    Gather materials: 20 and 28 gauge wire, ear wires, blue topaz briolettes, 3mm glass pearls, pliers.
    Cut wire: 6 inches of 20 gauge wire per earring, 10 inches of 28 gauge wire for wrapping.
    Create the base form using 20 gauge wire, wrapping around a mandrel or screwdriver.
    Start wrapping the 28 gauge wire around the base form, adding a coil at the base.
    Add beads in the following order: 9 glass pearls, briolette, 8 glass pearls, decreasing the count as you move up.
    Secure the beads by wrapping the 28 gauge wire through the form.
    Finish the earring by creating a loop at the top, trim excess wire, and attach the ear wire.
    Repeat for the second earring.
