  • Freedom Bracelet - DIY Jewelry Making Tutorial by PotomacBeads
The Freedom Bracelet tutorial features a patriotic red, white, and blue design built using multi-row right-angle weave (RAW). Designed for beginners and intermediate beaders, this project teaches how to create a dimensional, color-blocked bracelet by weaving seed beads into stacked units. Once the base is complete, the bracelet is embellished with crystals and seed beads for sparkle and depth, followed by the attachment of a clasp and finishing touches.

  • Quick Project Steps

Start the Base with RAW: Add a stop bead and leave a 6–8" tail. Pick up 4 seed beads to form your first RAW unit (square). Stitch through the first bead to form a loop. Continue in right-angle weave (RAW): Add 3 beads for each new unit. Pass through the correct bead from the previous unit to form a square. Alternate bead colors for red and blue rows as you build. Build Multiple Rows: At the end of each row: Turn by stitching up the side and across the top. Begin the next row in RAW, connecting to the previous row. Build 3 rows total to create a bracelet with structure and width. Add Crystal Embellishment: Exit the center bead of a RAW square. Add: 1 × 15/0 → 1 × 3mm bicone → 1 × 15/0. Stitch diagonally across to form an "X" over the RAW unit. Repeat for selected RAW squares to add sparkle. Fill in Edge Gaps: Along the top and bottom edges: Add extra seed beads between RAW columns to smooth the edge. This also reinforces the structure and improves the look. Attach the Clasp: Exit an end bead at the top of a RAW unit. Add: 2 × seed beads → wire guard or loop → clasp → back through beads. Reinforce the clasp area by stitching through again. Repeat on the other side. Reinforce & Finish: Stitch back through multiple units for added strength. Tie off using half-hitch knots between beads. Trim or burn thread ends with a thread burner.
